Evidence Based Longevity (EBL)
Every grade, sorted by what was measured

What Moves the Needle

A letter earned on deaths, heart attacks or fractures is a different kind of evidence from a letter earned on a blood test. This page puts every graded use on EBL in order of what its trials actually measured, strongest kind of outcome first. It ranks evidence. It does not tell you what to do.

526 graded uses across supplements, protocols, devices and longevity drugs. A record graded for several uses appears once for each. Each row opens its record and its trials.

On deaths and disease events, each row also gives the absolute size: out of 1,000 people (or 1,000 person-years), how many had the event in the comparison group and how many with the treatment, as the trial's abstract states it, with the outcome, the people, the comparison and the time it belongs to. Within each letter, rows are listed by name.

Each figure answers a different question, about a different outcome, group of people, comparison and length of time. The numbers cannot be compared with each other.

Measured on deaths and disease events

Heart attacks, strokes, fractures, cancers, deaths, infections: things that happen to people and are counted. A 17 · B 14 · C 30.

Measured on function

Strength, walking, balance, wakefulness: what a person can do, measured with an instrument. A 12 · B 10 · C 58.

Measured on symptoms

Pain, mood, sleep quality: rated by a blinded clinician or reported by the person. A 3 · B 22 · C 63.

Measured only on a blood marker or other surrogate

A lab value or scan moved. Whether the people who took it lived longer or better was not measured. A 0 · B 43 · C 94.

Graded D, kept apart

Not yet tested in a human trial, or tested and found to do nothing or harm, on the outcome named. Listed in the same order of outcome. 160 in all.
