Do your supplements have human trials behind them? Look any one up, free.

Devices, lifestyle protocols and longevity drugs are graded with the same A to D evidence system. Medications are checked for the nutrients they can lower and for interactions. Every grade shows the human trials behind it.

  1. You've heard that a supplement, device or protocol works. Was it ever tested in humans?
  2. Evidence Based Longevity.
  3. What the letters mean. Every letter is about human trials. A, Replicated The same finding reproduced by a separate research group. A result seen once can be chance or bias; a replicated one is harder to explain away.: replicated trials on a qualifying endpoint The outcome a trial measures to decide whether the treatment worked, such as heart attacks, blood pressure or a symptom score.. B, Supported: a good trial, backed by more. C, Limited: small, mixed or unreplicated trials. D, Not shown: no human trial shows benefit.
  4. 110 supplements, graded on human trials. Most land at C. Only 1 has earned an A.
  5. Seven questions. About two minutes. We never see your answers. One report: metformin can deplete B12, folate and CoQ10, and gets no letter; vitamin D3, B, fewer fractures, with calcium, in care homes; vitamin E, D, for heart attack and stroke prevention.
  6. For you and your family: plain answers. For clinicians: the full evidence trail. Vitamin D3, B, in plain words: in care homes, vitamin D with calcium meant fewer broken bones. Alone, it did not. Then in the clinician view with its trials, including one that found no effect.
  7. Same supplement. Two uses. Two letters. Creatine for strength, with weight training, over 65: A. Creatine for bone density: D, it did not improve. Every letter opens its trials. The two largest trials found no effect on their own. Stated on the record.
  8. Medications can deplete nutrients. Metformin can deplete vitamin B12 and folate, both well documented, and CoQ10, possible, not proven. 55 medications checked.
  9. Which supplements can interact with your medications. Berberine, B, can raise blood levels of some medications, including warfarin and statins. A human study found it slowed the liver enzymes that clear them (PMID PubMed ID: the permanent number the US National Library of Medicine gives a published paper. Each one links to that paper's record on PubMed. 21870106). The rise is inferred.
  10. One page for your doctor. Citations attached. And a plain-language copy for you.
  11. Supplements are only the beginning: devices, protocols, longevity drugs, conditions.
  12. Every condition gets its own page. 20 conditions covered. Insulin resistance and prediabetes: low-glycemic Mediterranean diet, A; berberine, B; cinnamon, B; chromium, C; Akkermansia, D.
  13. N>1: what trials in groups of people found. N=1: what happens in one person. You. Trials tell you where to start. Your own data tells you if it worked.
  14. The letter moves when the evidence does. Up or down. For example: CoQ10 for chronic heart failure, A to B, September 2026. And vitamin D3 with calcium for fractures in care homes, C to B, October 2026.
  15. Every grade is free to read. Every change dated. evidencebasedlongevity.co

Sound familiar?

A podcast says one supplement is essential. A friend swears by another. An ad says the opposite. A clinic is selling you a sauna, a red light panel or a hormone protocol.

You have eight bottles on the counter and no way to tell which ones have real studies behind them.

No more guessing.

EBL answers one question: what did studies in real people actually find? Supplements, devices, protocols and longevity drugs get a letter from A to D for each use, with the studies on the page. Medications are checked for the nutrients they lower and for interactions.

Free to read. No company can pay for a grade.

What one person takes

  • MetforminMedication can lower your vitamin B12 and folate; CoQ10, possible, not provenNo letter

What the check foundMetformin can lower your vitamin B12 and folate; CoQ10, possible, not proven.

EvidenceMedications are checked, not graded, so there is no letter. Evidence tier on each depletion record: vitamin B12, well documented; folate, well documented; CoQ10, possible, not proven.

  • Vitamin D3Fracture prevention with calcium, older adults in residential careB

What the check foundVitamin D3 is on the list. Its letter is for one use: fracture prevention with calcium, older adults in residential care.

EvidenceGrade B. Measured on a hard clinical endpoint. 4 PubMed-indexed papers on this use. Replicated benefit on hip fracture in older adults living in institutions. Not A: the large community trials did not reproduce it.

Caution on the recordHypercalcemia from any cause. Sarcoidosis, tuberculosis and other granulomatous disease, where extrarenal conversion can produce hypercalcemia at ordinary doses. Primary hyperparathyroidism. Sustained intake above 10,000 IU/day without monitoring.

  • Vitamin ECancer prevention, tested at scaleD

What the check foundVitamin E is on the list. Its letter is for one use: cancer prevention, tested at scale.

EvidenceGrade D, Route 2: TESTED, HARM FOUND. Measured on a hard clinical endpoint. 8 PubMed-indexed papers on the record. Every large randomized trial of vitamin E for cancer prevention found no benefit. In SELECT, 400 IU a day of synthetic vitamin E increased prostate cancer in healthy men.

Caution on the recordAnyone already at raised bleeding risk. Separation from surgery is the usual clinical margin.

Same supplement, two grades.

A

Creatine for strength

With resistance training, in adults over 65.

Two independent research groups found bigger strength gains than placebo An inactive substitute made to look like the real treatment, so participants cannot tell which one they received. plus the same training.

It measures strength, not falls, fractures or survival.

D

Creatine for bone density

Women after menopause, in two-year trials.

Bone density did not improve.

The letter grades the evidence for what was tested. See the creatine page →

  • A1

  • C64
  • D25

These counts are supplements alone. Protocols, devices and longevity drugs are graded on the same four letters, one letter for each use graded: 480 letters in all (A 28 · B 89 · C 232 · D 131).

Strict
Grades come from human trials, not test tubes, animals or testimonials. Almost no supplement reaches A.
Checkable
Every letter opens to the studies behind it, and a letter can move down when the evidence does not hold up.
Not for sale
No brand can buy or raise a grade. EBL earns $0 on every supplement it grades.

The letter can move down. That is the point.

One letter that moved down

CoQ10 for chronic heart failure: A to B

The A rested on one trial that no independent group has repeated.
